It's not the reality TV series his buddy John Daly has, but Torrey Pines High alum Pat Perez has snagged a piece of Web culture: the celebrity blog.

Begun this week, "Spikes Up" will appear each Wednesday on The Golf Channel's Web site, and, according to TGC, the blog will be reflective of Perez's "style of golf and his approach to life. He is known for his fiery competitiveness - which sometimes leads to antics during tournament play - and his close relationship with John Daly."

In the first installment, "Hanging with Hootie and Daly," Perez recounts hooking up with the Daly gang in Myrtle Beach, S.C., this week for the "Monday After the Masters" tournament thrown by Hootie and the Blowfish to benefit South Carolina junior golf.

Perez said he watched the final round of the Masters with Daly, who missed the cut, and Scotty Phillips (drummer for Alter Bridge, formerly of Creed) and country singer Steve Azar. "I want to be in the thick of that next year," Perez said of the Masters, "not watching on the tube."

At the Hootie benefit, Daly played his version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." Quipped Perez: "I think it's the only song he knows all the way through, but the fans definitely eat it up."

Perez also reported he just got his second motorcycle. A friend in Oregon custom-built it to look like a California Highway Patrol bike.
