Opening Round of 70 at John Deere Classic
SILVIS, Ill. - Double P found himself in a pinch, +3 at the turn on Thursday. After eighteen he was sitting pretty at -1; thanks to some near perfect golf and four birdies on the back nine.Perez bogeyed holes 1, 7 and 8 - with six pars on the front nine. On #10 (par 5), Perez carded his first birdie of the day. He picked up steam from there, with birdies on 12, 16 and 17. The one-under finish has Double P t-70 entering Friday's round.
The story this morning in Silvis, Ill. was fog. Lots of it. Play was delayed up to two hours in some cases. When asked if the weather was to blame, Perez shook it off.
"It is what it is. We had rain last week and this week it's fog. You get all kinds of weather out here and you just have to deal with it. "
Another underlying theme this week comes in the form of Michelle Wie - who is again attempting to make a cut at a PGA Tour event. Her bid should most likely fall short as she saw 'double hockey sticks' in the form of a +6 round of 77. She'll need the round of her career on Friday if she expects to play this weekend.
As for Perez, the Friday tee time is set for 1:25pm CT and he's eager to get back out there, picking up where he left off on Thursday.
"Everything started clicking on the back nine today. Chipping, putting - everything just sort of fell into place. Hopefully we'll see more of the same tomorrow."

Tough Friday in Illinois. PP don't worry about it. You have the game, it will turn around.
Hey Pat!
I just saw your website and figured I would try to write you a note. Your site is pretty fucking cool! I periodically have been looking for your website over the years and am pumped you put something sweet out.
I hope your injuries are healing and I am fucking pumped you rock on tour. A bunch of guys in my office are now big fans of yours here in Baltimore. Who knew you had fans in Baltimore....!
Anyway, It's not like we have a tour event anymore since the Booz Allen is cancelled otherwise I would take you to the Capital Grille here in Baltimore if you were in town.
If you have a sec write me back. Pass my hello's onto your Dad and brother.
