"Spikes Up" with Double P -- from GolfChannel.com
Hey Everyone. PP checking in from the road. We're in glorious Silvis, Illinois this week for the John Deere Classic.I made my return last week at the Cialis Western. For those of you who watched last weekend, I started out pretty well going 69-69 into the weekend. It was my lowest round since Saturday at THE PLAYERS back in March. I had only played three competitive rounds of golf in about three months and I definitely expect my game to be rustier. I was pretty fired up going into the weekend.
I ended up going 70-79, but I can live with that... this time. Nothing went right out there on Sunday and I guess something like that could be expected after such a long lay off. I took a lot from the Thursday through Saturday rounds and I spent this week working on my short game. All in all, I was glad to make the cut last week and it's good to be back out here again.
Looking forward to the John Deere this week. Played my Tuesday practice round with my boy Fishy (Todd Fischer) as well as Ian Leggatt and Chris Riley, who I've known since the Junior Golf days back in San Diego.
There was a Junior World theme going on this week and Riley and I both won Junior World back in the day. While we're gearing up for this week's event, my good Tour bud Tommy Armour III is back in my hometown for Junior World, supporting his son Tommy Armour IV this week. Get it done, IV.
Played the Pro Am today and laying low tonight as I have a 8:32am CT tee time (moved to 10:32am CT due to weather - ed. note) tomorrow. I'm in a group with another old school San Diego bud, Charley "Sandman" Hoffman. We should have some fun out there tomorrow. No complaints with the early tee time. There's a casino boat next to the hotel and I need to stay away from that place. Let's just say in the past, the cards haven't been all that kind to me.
Hoping to pick up where I left off last Saturday. I'm not playing the BC Open or British Open next week. Same with Milwaukee the following week, so I need to make it happen these next few days.
I'm physically feeling pretty good right now. A little pain the elbow today, but getting that worked out with my back guy Jeff Banaszak on the road up to twice a day right now. In the next few weeks Jeff is going to start a column on my site - offering up golf related stretches, exercise tips and he'll explain what he's been doing to get me back in playing shape. Make sure to check it out in the coming weeks.
Going to make most of the time off next week. My bud Pat Burrell and the Phillies will be in San Diego taking on my Padres for a three game home stand. I haven't seen the Padres in person since last season, so I'm really looking forward to a few games back home. Planning on staying downtown and hanging with Burrell a bit after the games. A lot of new stuff has opened up in the Gaslamp Quarter downtown, so I'll get a chance to check all that out.
Edwin McCain is out west this week, are are my boys Hootie & the Blowfish. I've been trying to track down Darius for a while to talk to the guys about getting involved with a charity tourney I'm on board with next year. I definitely want them playing in it - as well as Edwin - so getting out to both of those shows to catch up with the guys and convince them to get back to San Diego next January for the tourney. As soon as we get something locked down with the charity tournament and concert, I'll let everyone know.
Baseball, two concerts and Opening Day at Del Mar next week. Looking forward to next week, but right now it's all about the John Deere Classic.
See you out there at Deere Run tomorrow. -- Double P

Excellent showing at Cog Hill! Stay healthy. I'd like to see you and your boy, Jason Gore, having some dog fights out on the course. Shot for shot.

Way to grind out a score today after a tough start.
Great work out there, man. +3 at the turn and then four birdies/five pars over the next five holes? Bad ass.
Make a run tomorrow. We're all rooting you on!!!!
Way to hang in there DP. Hope to see a great finish on Sunday. Looks like your bro is going to do well this week also. Stay healthy and I'll see you at "THE PLAYERS" in May.
