Hey everyone, Pat here. Got back to Scottsdale late Sunday night after wrapping up at the Buick Invitational in San Diego. Wish I had scored better at the Buick, but that South Course was so long and played extremely tough.
Glad to make the cut in front of my hometown crowd and fun to see some familiar faces, but wish I had scored a bit better than -1 for the tourney.
Last 24 hours have been crazy. I'm doing a renovation at my house - while also putting together plans for my Fourth Annual Phoenix Open party, which takes place Tuesday night. Everything will be right down to the wire, but I have a good feeling we're going to pull it off.
The party should be a blast - as the last three were. Lots of Tour pros show up, as well as the guys behind the guys behind the guys (the Tour reps, club manufacturers, etc.)
It will air in the coming months and the party footage will be the season finale. They were here tonight getting JD, Jason Gore and a few of my buds jamming on guitars and singing. Good stuff.
Hitting the sack now as I have an early practice round tomorrow with Gore and my other bud Todd Fischer. After that, it's back here to put on the hardhat and play foreman.
Double P shot a respectable -1 on Torrey Pines South Course today. Starting on the back nine, Perez bogeyed holes 13 and 14, falling to +2 on the day. A solid third shot on 18 left him with a makeable birdie putt, pushing him to +1 on the day and -1 on the tournament.
Solid pars were the call on the front nine, with two birdies - coming on 3 and 9. Perez finished the day -1, pushing him to -3 going into Sunday's round.
Tomorrow's tee time is set for 8:36 am. Perez will be in a group with Tom Lehman and Matthew Goggin, teeing off on the front nine.
As fate would have it, Double P starting on the front nine means that again the Buick Invitational will provide his father Tony Perez the opportunity to start Pat once again. Tony has been a long-time starter at the Buick and first got to start Pat in 2002. With Pat starting on hole 10 last Thursday and today, Tony didn't have the opportunity to start him. Being PP starts on hole 1 this Sunday, father and son will reunite on the tee box for another Buick Invitational weekend round of golf.

From PatPerezGolf.com - Double P scrapped back to -2 on the tournament after a stellar -5 on the Torrey Pines North Course in Round II of the Buick Invitational.
An opening round 75 on Torrey Pines North Course, Perez stuggled to find the fairway for the better part of the afternoon.
Sitting at +3 with the cut looking like it'd wind up -1, going into Friday's round a minimum -4 was needed to play this weekend.
Long putts were falling on Friday; something which wasn't in the cards on Thursday. Wrapping up the front nine with a 34, Perez headed into the final nine holes needing to go at least -2 to make the cut. Solid birdie putts on 11, 13 and 14 put PP at -5 on the day before giving a shot back on 17.
A long par 5 hole on 18 provided Perez one final birdie on the day and a solid round of 67. As a result, Perez will gear up for what should be an exciting weekend out here in La Jolla, CA.
Stay tuned to see how things play out this weekend and click here to follow Double P's scoring online.
Many of you have been checking out our online store (which is currently under construction) and you've inquired about the items we're featuring.
As of today, we have about three dozen Double P Golf Ball/Flames tees in stock. We ordered a batch for our friends and family who will be attending this week's Buick Invitational in Pat's hometown of San Diego. We have a few left over of this inaugural run and we're selling them for $20 each for those who want one.
Interested parties, please email cb@patperezgolf.com and we'll get you squared away.
In the coming weeks we'll have more tees in stock - as well as a long sleeve Double P tee (with flames down the left sleeve.) Soon to come after that - the mesh cap, beanie, shot glass and sweats.
Stay tuned. More to come. In the interim, those who want the first run golf ball/flames tee - get your order in as supplies are limited.
Tonight was the second episode of the inaugural season and it featured JD, Double P and a few others on board the G5 as they were headed to Scotland for the 2005 British Open last July. The journey started in Mississippi and hours later the crew deplaned overseas.
The half hour program featured Daly and Perez yucking it up on the plane ride over as well as standard practice round hijinx and sarcasm being captured for the cameras. A definite treat for the average golf fan - not only seeing St. Andrews, but watching Daly and Perez playing their practice round with Vijay Singh and Tom Pernice.
For those who missed it, this week's episode was called "The Open According To John" and it will be replayed on The Golf Channel several times in the coming weeks.
Everytime I get back to San Diego, I have to hit my spot Samurai at least once... OK, twice. It's a must. Chicken Teryaki on the teppan is the only way to go.
Our crew rolled in last night and we were more than disappointed to find out our bud - and owner - Charlie Song took the night off. Not sure if that was coincidence or if he did so because we were coming in.
Either way, you can't run forever Charles in Charge. The next few days are all business - but you better brace yourself as there's a good chance we come back in to terrorize the place Sunday night...
Made it down to San Diego on Sunday night and have just been working out and getting my game together since Palm Desert. Thrilled to have shot that opening round 60 but definitely disappointed with my scoring from there. What's done is done and now it's on to the Buick Invitational - on the course I grew up playing, Torrey Pines.
The South course at Torrey has been greatly renovated as they're gearing up for the 2008 US Open - so it's much more challenging - but I still look forward to getting after it this week.
Played a practice round with good buddy Todd Fischer today and had D.A. Points joint us a few holes into things. Weather was great and definitely happy with how all aspects of my games are going right now. Really hoping to shine this week.
After the practice round, I participated in the Skills Challenge alongside Tom Pernice, Woody Austin, Chris Smith, Matt Gogel, Chris Riley and Kevin Stadler. Won one of the chipping contests, but Austin won the little tourney. A few hundred people showed up to check it out and it seemed like they had a good time.
The San Diego Union Tribune had a piece on my website today. Mentioned the site, logo, music, links and all the other good stuff. Glad we are getting some positive publicity there. For those of you who have been to the site and have inquired about the apparel line - we do have some shirts made and they're available for $20 (plus S&H.) We did a batch for the Buick and will have more in the coming days. Email my guy Chris and he'll get you squared away. Next up are the hats - which should be in by February.
PatPerezGolf.com got some pub in today's issue of the San Diego Union Tribune. Check it out here:
PEREZ ROCKS The Web site has a loop of music by The Cult. It has flames flying out of golf balls and boxing glove head covers for sale. It even has links to the sites of AC/DC and Tommy Lee.
Guess which PGA Tour player it belongs to? You can rule out Phil Mickelson.
The answer is Torrey Pines High grad Pat Perez, who launched the site (www.PatPerezgolf.com) last week. It only reinforces Perez's reputation as one of the edgiest guys on the tour.
"It's nothing to really make money on or anything like that," Perez said. "It's just to let people know who I am, what's going on out on tour, stuff like that."
Two friends of Perez's designed the Web site and the logo, which features a golf ball with clubs crossed behind it and flames shooting out from the sides.
"My agent (Ralph Cross) first came up with the idea of a skull and crossbones, but I thought that was completely wrong. That wasn't the image I wanted to put out there," Perez said. "The flames kind of stand for passion. It has a fiery edge type of look."
As for the "Double P" boxing glove headcovers ($29.95 each), Perez said, "You put a rabbit on there, it doesn't do anything. I like creating something different. People like boxing."
Pat Perez shot a third round 70 leaving him tied for 4th place entering Saturday's round. Perez tees off at 10:18 am on La Quinta CC's course. Follow him online today by clicking here.
PatPerezGolf.com brings you today's online media coverage regarding Pat Perez' second round comeback on the new Classic Course at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
For those who missed it, a gritty and hard-fought back nine for Double P. Sitting at +4 on the day going into #12, Perez scrapped back to a +1 netting four birdies on the final seven holes.
Fighting a howling wind and difficult conditions, Perez hung tough and stayed right in the thick of things, wrapping up day two in second place behind leader Chad Campbell.
Tune in today as Double P tees off at 9:06 am PT at Bermuda Dunes. Click here to follow his scoring online.

My bud told me earlier tonight that The Cult might be reuniting for a tour in 2006. That's amazing news. Obviously they are one of my all time favorite bands and my goal - after I win my first big tourney - is to get them to play a house party.
Sort of like Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times At Ridgemont High when he got Van Halen to play his bash with his reward money after saving Brooke Shields from drowning.
On a golf note, made it out to Palm Desert for the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Monday morning. Staying at the same house I've rented the past few years. Hopefully it'll bring me some luck. It's a five day tournament out here - which means four different courses Wednesday through Saturday then back to the main course on Sunday.
I tee off at 8:30 am on Wednesday at PGA West (Palmer Course.) Worked out aspects of my game the past few days with my coach Mike Owen and hope to get off to a great start tomorrow morning.
Just returned from a week in Hawaii - technically week two of the 2006 PGA season as the Mercedes was last week.
Missed the cut and didn't shoot as well as I hoped at the Sony Open - but it's only the first week of the Tour. Lots of golf left to be played. In San Diego today to work on some things with my long-time coach Mike Owen.
Tonight, my good friend Ali is having the grand re-opening of his club 4th&B in San Diego's Gaslamp District. Should be a great night as he's put a lot into renovating the place. Might have to break the workout regime with a late night carne asada burrito. I love Mexican food. Filiberto's is life. Open 24/7.
I'm headed out to Palm Desert in the morning to start gearing up for the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. I've always been a fan of the Bob Hope. It's a fun tournament and being that I grew up near Palm Desert and live in Scottsdale now, I'm pretty used to the course, grass, weather and everything else.
In 2003, I set the course record at the Bob Hope with an 11-under-par 61 in the third round. Got pretty close to that 59, but I can definitely live with the 61. Tied for 6th that year and hoping for a similar showing this week.
Gearing up to kick off this 2006 season, already. Headed out to Honolulu later today. This will be the fifth time I've been fortunate enough to head to Hawaii in January. Looking forward to the Sony Open and getting this new season started.
Did a lot of off season training this year and ready to put it to work. For those of you who are curious, I talked about my off-season regimen in a recent online piece for American Superstar Magazine.
Gotta get back to packing. Flight leaves in a bit.
I don't think I'll ever say Happy New Year. It'll always be Merry New Year being that I've seen "Trading Places" a million and one times. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd were great in that one. Billy Ray Valentine, Capricorn - and Louis Winthorpe III.
"It was a stone groove, my man - it was righteous!"
I've played in a few Pro Ams with Paul Gleason, who played Clarence Beeks in the movie - but is best known for his character of Principal Richard Vernon in The Breakfast Club. Either way, he's Beeks to me - and by day's end I have everyone on the course calling him "Beeks." Sorry for the rant there. The whole point of the blog here was to wish everyone a Merry New Year.
Gonna get back to watching some college football. Lots of games on today.
