4th place finish at The Colonial

FT. WORTH, TX - Pat Perez had the perfect Sunday afternoon at The Colonial. Five birdies. One bogey. Tied for the day's third lowest round (two others shot 65). All this after a rough back nine Sunday morning as he finished Saturday's round.

With the third round suspended at dust, PP wrapped up his final ten holes Sunday morning. After a birdie on #9, Perez bogeyed #15 and #17 en route to a Saturday round of 69. After a quick turnaround, PP opened his final round with a birdie on #1, five straight pars and birdie-bogey-par for a front nine 34. The back nine, a thing a beauty - birdies on #12, #14 and #16 and six pars. PP's putter what white hot and at day's end, -14 proved to be the magic number. PP wrapped up -12 and 4th place outright.

OTHER NEWS & NOTES: This week's 4th place finish was worth $288,000 and was Double P's first top five finish this season... This year's earnings total $796,515 and all but secure PP's card for the 2008 season... This year's Colonial marked the first time PP posted four straight rounds in the 60s since 2006... Last week's top five finish moves PP from #75 to #50 in FedExCup Standings. He currently has 3,534 points... PP will play a Monday qualifier next week for this year's US Open... PGA Tour player Tommy Armour III and Double P are headed to Las Vegas next week as a guest of George Clooney for the Ocean's Thirteen premier... After The Memorial, PP's next event would be the US Open, barring he qualifies.

Two huge steps forward, one small step back

This was the scene at The Colonial as Saturday afternoon came to an abrupt halt. Our guy Pat Perez was in the thick of things at -9 with five others.

PP's late afternoon start on Saturday only allowed him to play through seven holes, reaching -2 on the day and -9 on the event. Early this morning, he rallied for another birdie on #9, but the time spent at -10 was short-lived, with late round bogeys on #15 and #17.

The result is -8 on the event with Sunday's round left to play. Double P is currently t-8th and is awaiting his new, official Sunday tee time, which is slated for 1:13pm local time. He'll be paired up with Brandt Snedeker and Ryan Moore - a threesome instead of a twosome, in an effort to ensure a Sunday finish.

Get out there and get it done, PP. This particular brass ring is more than within reach.

Sitting pretty entering weekend @ The Colonial

Pat Perez played twenty eight holes of golf today and stayed in the zone right up through #18. Incliment weather halted Thursday's round and even in less than stellar conditions today, Double P tore it up at The Colonial.

Wrapping up Thursday's round on #18 this morning, PP shot a front nine 33, earning him an opening round 66. The streak continued when Friday's round was underway. After a quick birdie-bogey on holes three and four, Double P played his final fourteen holes bogey-free, with birdies on 9, 10 and 17.

Saturday's tee time will be announced shortly. His first two rounds have him at -7 entering the weekend and he's currently tied for 9th. Check back Saturday morning to follow Pat online as he makes a run at his first PGA Tour victory.

Opening round of The Colonial suspended...

Incliment weather ended Thursday's round of The Colonial prematurely. Pat Perez opened birdie-birdie on 10 and 11 and then netted six straight pars before he had to hang it up today. Sitting pretty at -2, he'll pick up the pace Friday on #18, wrap up his final ten holes and then play his second round.

Tune in Friday morning to see how day two of The Colonial wraps up.

Funniest thing ever...

Almost makes me wish I was back in college again with a roommate I could work like this. Thank God (Brad) Cannon is still around. He'll get the butter action one of these days. If not him, I'll take out The Hate.

I absolutely lose it when the guy goes into the trash cans three straight times.

Tough road ahead Friday...

Pat Perez had a rough go of it today in the opening round of the PLAYERS Championship. A birdie on #2 had Double P at -1, but a double on #4 and bogeys on 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14 were the difference makers. PP did birdie #16 down the stretch; his second par-5 birdie of the day.

Friday's tee time will be announced shortly. Tune in tomorrow to see if Double P can come roaring back.

Can PP pick up where he left off in 2006?

This year's PLAYERS Championship week is underway. A big field, a big time event and for PP, a return to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL for "the fifth major"and home of a T3 finish in 2006.

As many of you remember, PP went 71-72-69-71 for a T3 finish at last year's event. Riding that wave of momentum, he got off to a strong start the following week at the Verizon Heritage and had to WD due to elbow tendonitis, which derailed the duration of the 2006 season.

What's in store this year? Will Pat Perez find comfort at Sawgrass, fall into his groove and pick up where he left off last year?

We'll find out starting at 9:05am ET on Thursday when Double P is paired up with Brian Davis and Ian Poulter, going off on #1.

Check back with us for the latest! Live scoring and live leaderboard will be available off the homepage Thursday morning!

I'm with the Underhills...

The "Jane Doe" Edition of Fletch came out on DVD today. Absolutely classic. I can't wait to scoop it up later. I've absoltuely beaten that movie into the dirt the past 20 years. This new version is digitally remastered and has some behind the scenes stuff.

In honor of the re-release of this stellar classic, here are some top notch Fletch quotes for today:
Fletch: I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull rank on you. I didn't want to have to do this. I'm with the Mattress Police. There are no tags on these mattresses. Oh, you've remodeled the garage. Must have cost you hundreds.

Fletch: I'm John.
Gail Stanwyk: Ohhhh, John. [they laugh]
Gail Stanwyk: John who?
Fletch: John Cock... tos... ton.
Gail Stanwyk: That's a beautiful name.
Fletch: Well, it's Scotch/Romanian.
Gail Stanwyk: That's an odd combination.
Fletch: Yeah, well, so were my parents.

Waiter: Excuse me, Senor. You are a member of the club?
Fletch: No, I'm not, I'm with the Underhills.
Waiter: They are left, Senor.
Fletch: It's all right, they'll be back. He went out for his urinalysis.
Waiter: Would you like some drinks, Senor, while you wait? I will put it on the Underhills' bill.
Fletch: Yes, very good. I'll have a Bloody Mary and a steak sandwich and... a steak sandwich, please.

Pan Am Clerk: I'm afraid there is someone sitting next to you.
Fletch: Oh, for... God dawd dawd! Who is it, Mr. Sinlindin?

Stanton Boyd: What kind of a name is Poon?
Fletch: Comanche Indian.

Willy: What the hell you need ball bearings for?
Fletch: Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Heeeey! It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.
